Cebu 1- The people
It's been a while since I left Cebu, but very often memory still
draws me to this warming and lovely place. During the journey, the most memorable part, is
probably the people. In my eye, Filipinos are genuine and friendly; their characters are actually quite similar to Taiwanese people. The subtle difference I think might be that they're more optimistic and passionate to
their daily life, their jobs and whatever happened to them.
To be
honest, I really enjoy getting along with these cute people even though the way
we look at one thing is far from each other. One of the funny experience I
encountered was that it took me a while to realize Cebu is a city where people
recognize you as Korean as long as you have yellow skin and you don't look like
them. I took it as a compliment at first since Korean usually look nice due to
the fact that they really care about their looks. I felt flattered until my
teacher told me that local people called me Korean simply only because of my
small eyes and pale skin. Alright, what a culture shock. Lol.
The beach of Oslob where whale shark watching serves as its tourist feature. (It was not a very pleasant experience for me though) |
